The Martha Program
Bringing families and volunteers together to help honor the memories of loved ones who have passed.
What is the Martha Program? A free program designed as an
opportunity to link families in need of caring for their loved one’s graves
with volunteers in the community wanting to help.
Volunteer’s Responsibilities:
- Checking the grave site at selected intervals
and reporting any concerns to cemetery staff and families
- Can include periodic cleaning (using approved
cleaners)
- Removing debris or old decorations
- Placing new decorations
- Updating family as requested
Family Responsibility:
- Provide information on the area they are wishing
to be “adopted”
- Communicate with office and volunteer on
preferred care for the plot
- Purchase and arrange pick up or delivery of any
decoration (in accordance to the cemetery decoration policy) they would like
placed on the plot
Our goal at Columbia Cemetery is to support families and
friends during difficult times. Through the Martha Program, we can help share
the responsibility of caring for those laid to rest here at our cemetery.
